In the elegant symposium organized on the topic “Literature and Cinema” under the joint aegis of Mumbai’s leading literary and cultural institution Gyan Gangotri Kavya Manch, Jain International Women’s Organization (South Mumbai) and Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, various personalities from the world of cinema and literature had a meaningful discussion on various aspects of the interrelationship between literature and cinema and said that both have an important role in giving the right direction to the society.
This symposium was held on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025 in the auditorium of Sharda Mandir High School, Gamdevi, Mumbai in the special presence of Dr. Sheetla Prasad Dubey, Working President of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy and Dr. Mrs. Manju Lodha, Vice President of the Academy, Founder of Gyan Gangotri Manch and President of Jain International Women’s Organization. Powerful actor of the cine world Shishir Sharma, filmmaker and writer Ravi Yadav and child artist Ayan Khan were present as special guests in this symposium. The event was a testimony to the seamless synergy between literature and cinema, in which various speakers presented elegant ideological expressions on storytelling and their shared role in cultural prosperity. In this program that brought the world of literature and cinema under one roof, apart from thought-provoking discussions, three impressive short films were also screened, which were appreciated by all the audience. These films include “Happan Sangwala” and “Bhookh” produced by Ravi Yadav and “Chashma” produced by Dimpy Agarwal. On this occasion, Dr. Mrs. Manju Lodha was felicitated with the unique award of “National Record” by “ACE Book of Records” for her extraordinary contribution in promoting education and literature. It is worth mentioning that with her unmatched collection of more than four and a half lakh books, Mrs. Manju Lodha has established a grand library, two mobile libraries and many small libraries at various places to spread knowledge to the common people. On behalf of the organization “ACE Book of Records”, National Jury Member Dr. Anita Jain presented this prestigious award and citation to Mrs. Manju Lodha, recognizing Dr. Lodha’s unwavering commitment to promoting the love of reading and learning. On this occasion, singer Ms. Firdaus, daughter-in-law of the late legendary Bollywood singer Mohammed Rafi, Ms. Indu Khinvsara, Secretary of Jain International Women’s Organization (South Mumbai), Mrs. Meena Agarwal and Prof. Markandey Tripathi, Member of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy were also present. A large number of cinema and literature lovers, including more than 150 women, attended this memorable event.
