
Mumbai : India’s Leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.13,91,970.45 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX during the week of March 7 to 13. A movement of 635 points was seen in the March futures of the precious metals index BULLDEX.
In precious metal futures, GOLD and SILVER witnessed a total turnover of Rs.92,995.17 crore in 8,60,300 trades on MCX. In GOLD contracts, MCX GOLD April futures per 10 gram opened the week at Rs.85,740, touched an intra-day high of Rs.87,866 and a low of Rs.85,309 during the week and ended the week with a gain of Rs.1,741 to reach Rs.87,775. GOLD GUINEA March contract per 8 gram jumped Rs.1,055 to Rs.70,912 and GOLD PETAL March contract per 1 gram rose Rs.150 to Rs.8,912. GOLD MINI April futures opened at Rs.85,799 per 10 gram and rose by Rs.1,692 to close at Rs.87,694.
In SILVER futures, SILVER May futures per 1 kg opened the week at Rs.97,956 and touched an intra-day high of Rs.1,01,336 and a low of Rs.96,355 during the week and closed at Rs.1,00,545, up by Rs.2404 at the end of the week. SILVER MINI April contract rose by Rs.2397 to close at Rs.1,00,449 and SILVER MICRO April contract rose by Rs.2,359 to close at Rs.1,00,419.
In metals futures, MCX witnessed a turnover of Rs.14,990.13 crore in 96,620 trades. ALUMINIUM March futures rose Rs.0.65 per kg to Rs.265.05 and ZINC March futures rose by Rs.2.80 to Rs.279. COPPER March contract rose Rs.7.25 to Rs.898.10 and LEAD March contract rose Rs.1.80 to Rs.183.
In energy segment futures, MCX witnessed a turnover of Rs.44,090.30 crore in 9,13,416 trades. CRUDE OIL March futures opened the week at Rs.5,798 and touched an intra-day high of Rs.5,946 and a low of Rs.5,761 during the week and closed the week at Rs.5,794, up Rs.10 per barrel, while NATURAL GAS March futures declined Rs.12.10 to close at Rs.361.80 per 1 MMBTU.
In Agricultural Commodities, MCX witnessed a turnover of Rs.14.61 crore in 362 trades. COTTON CANDY March futures opened at Rs.52,840 per candy and touched an intra-day high of Rs.52,940 and a low of Rs.52,500 during the week and closed the week at Rs.52,790, up Rs.130. MENTHA OIL futures March contract rose by Rs.25.30 per 1 kg to Rs.957.70.
In terms of trading, among precious metals on MCX, GOLD futures traded 63,618 kg worth Rs.54,954 crore in 2,11,593 trades and SILVER futures traded 3,860.431 tonnes worth Rs.38,041.17 crore in 6,48,707 trades. In the energy segment, CRUDE OIL futures traded 1,07,75,000 barrels worth Rs.6,305.73 crore in 78,822 trades and NATURAL GAS futures traded 83,06,92,500 MMBTU worth Rs.31,441 crore in 3,82,879 trades. In agricultural commodities, 1152 candies of Rs.1.52 crore were traded in 21 trades in COTTON CANDY futures, 139 tonnes of Rs.13.09 crore were traded in 341 trades in MENTHA OIL contracts.
Open interest at the end of the week stood at 23,792 kg in GOLD futures and 1,022.965 tonnes in SILVER futures, 11,31,100 barrels in CRUDE OIL and 2,15,50,000 MMBTU in NATURAL GAS and 11,952 candies in COTTON CANDY, 94 tonnes in MENTHA OIL.
In index futures, 132 lots of Rs.13.62 crore were traded in 113 trades in Bulldex futures on MCX during the week. Open interest stood at 124 lots in Bulldex futures. Bulldex March futures opened at 20,503, moved up 459 points to reach 20,995 with a movement of 635 points.
In options, Options on Futures recorded a notional turnover of Rs.12,39,866.62 crore in 1,10,00,655 trades on MCX. Call and put options of GOLD traded for Rs.1,66,751.45 crore, call and put options of SILVER and SILVER-MINI traded for Rs.17,332.40 crore. In the energy segment options, call and put options of CRUDE OIL traded for Rs.8,23,648.19 crore and call and put options of NATURAL GAS traded for Rs.2,13,221.54 crore.
