Mumbai, 28th September. During the Hindi fortnight organized under the joint aegis of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, Mumbai and Nutan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Desaiganj, a symposium on the topic “When will Hindi become an international language” was held at Adarsh Mahavidyalaya, Desaiganj, Gadchiroli.
This symposium, organized on Friday, 27th September, 2024, was presided over by Motilal Kukreja, Secretary, Nutan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, while the Vice President of the organization Jagdish Sharma and Executive Member of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy Jagdish Thapliyal were present as main guests. In the beginning, after lighting of lamps, Maharashtra State Song and welcoming the dignitaries, the organizer Dr. Shankar Kukreja presented the introduction about the symposium. He told that this is the first big event to spread awareness about Hindi language in Adarsh Mahavidyalaya. He said that this is the first ever program organized by Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy in Gadchiroli district in the last few years, for which the institution is grateful to the Academy.
He openly praised the remarkable work of the Academy to enrich Hindi language and literature. As the main guide of the symposium, Dr. Vijendra Batra, Executive Member of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, was felicitated by the Secretary of the institution Motilal Kukreja by presenting a shawl, coconut and a memento. In his address, Dr. Batra threw light on the gradual spread of Hindi since it was declared the official language on 14th September, 1949 and the ever-increasing acceptance of Hindi in the country and abroad. He prominently discussed the difference between official language and national language and the contribution of non-Hindi speaking leaders & social reformers in the prosperity of Hindi.
He said that we all are proud of the special efforts made by former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Foreign Minister Late Sushma Swaraj and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give prestige to Hindi language in the country and abroad. He expressed confidence that just as International Yoga Day was started with the support of 177 out of 195 countries, Hindi too is likely to get international recognition in the United Nations by getting the support of two-thirds of the member countries in the coming years. Chief guest and executive member of the Academy Jagdish Thapliyal appreciated the efforts being made to include the contribution of major Hindi litterateurs in the educational curriculum, to make Hindi the language of employment and to recognize Hindi medium in medical and management studies in many states. Special guest Surendra Harde urged to use Hindi as the first language.
Vice President of the organization Jagdish Sharma urged to reach the work of the Academy to as many students as possible and to make them as aware as possible about Hindi language and literature. Motilal Kukreja, who was presiding over the symposium, in his presidential address advised the students to come out of the frog-in-the-well mentality and become multilingual. He called upon the students to achieve success in national level examinations and find employment in the private sector by adopting a positive attitude through such programmes. He also expressed his intention to conduct such various programmes with Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy in the future as well. The organiser of the programme, Dr. Shankar Kukreja, was felicitated by the academy by giving him a shawl and a memento. Members of the organisation, Omprakash Agarwal, Abdul Zaheer Sheikh, Sattumal Dhodhani and Nanak Kukreja were also present on the occasion. Dr. Hitendra Dhote, Nihar Bodele and Damodar Singade of the college contributed significantly to the success of the programme. Dr. Shriram Gahane expressed his gratitude and the symposium was anchored by Nitin Ramteke. In the end, the symposium concluded with the national anthem.
