Mumbai, 8th August. A unique and beautiful event of emotional acting performance titled “Nari Patra of Ramayana” was organized under the joint aegis of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, Mumbai and Gyan Gangotri Kavya Manch on the evening of Wednesday, 7th August, 2024 in the Club House Auditorium of Lodha Park, Mumbai.
Well-known writer Amish Tripathi and famous Bollywood actor Dheeraj Kumar were present as chief guests in this event. The function was presided over by Dr. Sheetala Prasad Dubey, Working President of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy. Dr. Manju Lodha, Vice President of the Academy and Founder of Gyan Gangotri Kavya Manch welcomed all the guests. On this occasion, apart from various prominent guests and the working president of the academy, the executive members of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, Anand Prakash Singh, Gajanan Mahatpurkar, Markandey Tripathi and Shyam Sharma also presented their views and poetic creations and received applause from the audience.
Various speakers presented their deep views about various aspects of the female characters of Ramayana. In this function, about 25 members of Gyan Gangotri Kavya Manch presented impressive performances of various female characters of Ramayana. The objective of this program was to understand the various dimensions of the female characters of Ramayana and to recognise their contribution to the society. Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy’s Assistant Director and Member Secretary Sachin Nimbalkar expressed his gratitude to everyone.
The elegant stage anchoring of the function was done by the Academy’s member Mrs. Pramila Sharma. Prabha Lodha as Mata Kaushalya, Suman Kothari as Mata Kaikeyi, Raj Makharia as Mata Sumitra and Sunita Mandelia as Devi Ahilya gave powerful performances. Similarly, the character of Devi Sunayana was played by Usha Biyani, the girl character of Devi Sita was played by Pratibha Sanklecha, the young character of Devi Sita Maa was played by Saroj Kothari and the character of Devi Urmila was well played by Manju Lodha.
Among other female characters, Lata Solanki as Manthra Dasi, Meena Sundesa as Devi Anusuya, Prema Bagdi as the demoness Shurpanakha, Kanta Barmecha as Devi Tara, Manju Surana as Devi Mandodari, Mudita Agrawal as the demoness Trijata and Saroj Jain as Devi Sulochana won everyone’s appreciation with their soulful acting. After the acting performances of the female characters, various members of Gyan Gangotri Kavya Manch recited their interesting poems on the subject of Ramayana.
These members included Indira Khimsara, Kala Jain, Madhu Lakhotia and Rekha Doshi. Poetess Dr. Yojna Jain, who had come from Berlin to attend the program, also recited her poetry. The ceremony started with Maharashtra State Song and lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandana, while it ended with the National Anthem.
