“The entire Indian literature is for human welfare”: Dr. Dinesh Pratap Singh
The entire literature of the Indian knowledge tradition is literature for human welfare. The element of establishing human values is found in the compositions of all languages and dialects. These important views were expressed by Dr. Dinesh Pratap Singh, Executive Member of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, in the National Seminar organized on the topic “Effect of Buddhist Philosophy on Indian Literature” under the joint aegis of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy, Mumbai and Akhil Hindi Sahitya Sabha.
This National Seminar was organized on Wednesday, 18th September, 2024 at Shivaji Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Amravati. Addressing more than one hundred scholars, students and literature lovers in this seminar, the keynote speaker Dr. Dinesh Pratap Singh said in his keynote address that Buddhist philosophy is the contemplation of human welfare. This sentiment is found in the literature of all languages of India. He said that this contemplation of human welfare is at the core of the saint literature of the Bhakti period. He explained Mahatma Buddha’s four noble truths, Panchsheel principle, Ashtangik Marg and ten Paramitas and showed its influence on Indian literature. The seminar started with lighting of lamps & Maharashtra State Song and was inaugurated by Naresh Patil, a member of the educational institution, in the seminar hall. The college principal Dr. Vinay Raut presided over the seminar. National President of Akhil Hindi Sahitya Sabha Mrs. Sheela Dongre presented the introductory speech. Convener B.J. Dongre welcomed the scholars and expressed gratitude towards Sahitya Academy.
seminar was conducted in an elegant manner by Ms. Muskan Sharma. A total of seventeen research papers based on the central theme were presented in four sessions of the national seminar. In these research papers, the ideas of Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha in the literature of Sanskrit, Pali, Hindi, Marathi, Odiya, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam were expressed by scholars like Milind Jeevne ‘Shakya’, Vaman Gawai, Sunil Kharate, Pramod Byala, Sanjay Khadse, Maya Gedam, Nargis Ali, Hanuman Gujar, Smita Itnare, Swati Badgujar, Anita Kale, Basant Kale, Ramkrishna Sahasrabuddhe, Dr. Roshan Rao etc. who came from all over Maharashtra and other states. Prof. Shakya described linguistics and Dr. Gawli described Buddhist philosophy as a philosophy that affects society and economy. Ramakrishna Sahasrabuddhe presented his research paper by linking it to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s integral humanism. Dr. Rao showed the influence of Buddhist philosophy on the literature of Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Yashpal, Mahadevi, Prasad in Hindi. Similarly, other scholars also talked about the influence of Buddhist philosophy on many other languages. B.J. Dongre along with the officials of the college and AHISAS played an important role in the successful organization of the seminar.
