Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has commenced the Joint Parcel Product – Rapid Cargo Service (JPP–RCS) on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), marking an important step towards strengthening rail-based parcel logistics and providing faster, reliable and scheduled transportation solutions for cargo transportation.
The service was launched by Dr. Manoj Singh, Member (Operations & Business Development), Railway Board, in the august presence of Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL; Shri Deepak Jha, Adviser (Commercial), Railway Board; Shri Shyam Sundar Gupta, Principal Executive Director (Infrastructure), Railway Board; and Shri Navin Kumar Parsuramka, Principal Executive Director (Coaching), Railway Board.
The JPP–RCS has commenced on the New Dadri (Uttar Pradesh/Delhi NCR) – New Motidau (Mehsana, Gujarat) – New Ancheli (Navsari,Gujarat) route, with the originating service from New Dadri commencing on 18 August 2026. The return service from New Ancheli to New Dadri will commence on 20 August 2026, with the service operating daily. The service is designed to cater to e-commerce, FMCG, retail cargo, courier and logistics aggregators, transporters and other bulk parcel customers.
The service will cover approximately 1,200 km one way, connecting major logistics and industrial centres across the northern and western regions of the country. New Motidau will serve as an intermediate loading and unloading point, providing greater flexibility for parcel operators and customers. The service will operate as a scheduled end-to-end service with a composition of 15 LVPH and one SLR, with a scheduled transit time of approximately 23 hours.
The JPP–RCS brings together the strengths of the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Indian Railways JPP–RCS framework and it is being patronized by Amazon and Harsh Logistics* and is based on indents placed through the FBD portal, alongside other major e-commerce and supply chain partners. The service provides an integrated rail-and-road logistics solution covering collection of goods, loading and unloading, scheduled rail transportation and final delivery, thereby offering customers a dependable and efficient option for long-distance parcel movement.
The launch event was attended by Shri Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (Operations & Business Development), DFCCIL; Shri Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure); Smt. Monica Agnihotri, Principal Chief Operations Manager/Northern Railway; Sh. Praveen Pandey, Principal Chief Commercial Manager/Northern Railway; DFCCIL; Shri H. S. The service is supported by a digital booking mechanism through the Virtual Aggregation Platform (VAP) of the Freight Business Development (FBD) portal. Customers can book parcel space online up to 180 days in advance, while the platform facilitates digital booking and tracking, integration with aggregator websites and better planning of logistics requirements.

Under JPP–RCS, freight charges will be calculated on the basis of the carrying capacity of the Vehicle Parcel (VP) and levied as per the applicable JP Scale notified by Railway Board. The service also provides return-trip discounts to encourage efficient utilisation of parcel capacity on both legs of the journey.
The service is expected to generate approximately ₹21 lakh per round trip, translating into an estimated annual revenue potential of around ₹76 crore with regular operations. It is also expected to open new opportunities for parcel operators, logistics service providers, e-commerce businesses, manufacturers, traders and other freight users seeking dependable and time-sensitive transportation solutions.
Till now, existing parcel services through NMGHS have primarily catered to destinations up to the Ahmedabad region. With the introduction of JPP–RCS on the Dedicated Freight Corridor, parcel traffic can now be carried beyond Ahmedabad, enabling Surat–Mumbai bound parcels to be transported through the service and further connected to their destinations.
The JPP–RCS also supports the broader objective of shifting suitable long-distance freight from road to rail. By combining the efficiency of rail for long-haul transportation with road connectivity for first- and last-mile movement, the service provides an integrated logistics solution with potential benefits in terms of fuel efficiency, reduced road congestion and lower environmental impact.
With the commencement of JPP–RCS, DFCCIL further strengthens its commitment towards customer-centric freight services, efficient utilisation of Dedicated Freight Corridor infrastructure and development of a modern, sustainable and integrated logistics ecosystem. The service marks a significant milestone in the evolution of parcel transportation on the Dedicated Freight Corridor and is expected to contribute to faster, safer and more efficient freight movement across the country.
