Mumbai: The country’s leading commodity derivatives exchange MCX recorded a total turnover of Rs 12,82,577.17 crore in 114,83,291 trades in various commodity futures, options and index futures during the week from February 7 to 13, of which the share of commodity futures trading was Rs 1,30,474.78 crore and the share of options was Rs 11,52,086.91 crore.
In precious metals futures, GOLD and SILVER saw a total turnover of Rs.87,918.03 crore in 8,84,260 trades on MCX. In GOLD contracts, MCX GOLD April futures opened at Rs.84,653, touched an all time high of Rs.86,360 and a low of Rs.84,433 during the week and closed at Rs.85,809 per 10 gram, up by Rs.1,365. GOLD-Guinea February contract jumped Rs.1,652 to Rs.69,222 per 8 gram and GOLD-Petal February contract rose Rs.236 to Rs.8,575 per 1 gram. GOLD-Mini March futures closed at Rs.85,368, up by Rs.1,512 per 10 gram.
In SILVER futures, SILVER March futures opened at Rs. 95,699, touched an intra-day high of Rs.96,632 and a low of Rs.92,914 during the week and closed at Rs.95,233 per 1 kg with decline of Rs.355. SILVER-Mini February contract fell Rs.284 to Rs.95,088 and SILVER-Micro February contract fell Rs.318 to close at Rs.95,044.
In non-ferrous metals futures, a turnover of Rs 11,527.14 crore was done in 81,331 trades. COPPER February futures opened at Rs 857.80, up Rs 13.20 to Rs 867.85, while ALUMINIUM February contract rose by Rs 0.60 to Rs 256.55 and LEAD February contract fell by Rs 2.10 to Rs 179. ZINC February contract fell by Rs 2.55 to Rs 267. In Mini futures, ALUMINIUM-Mini February futures rose by Rs 0.45 to Rs 256.45 per kg, LEAD-Mini February contract fell by Rs 2.05 to Rs 179.05 and ZINC-Mini February futures closed down by Rs 2.55 to Rs 266.75.
In energy segment futures, a turnover of Rs. 31,012. crore was done on MCX in 7,22,728 trades. CRUDE OIL February futures opened at Rs. 6,221, touched an intra-day high of Rs. 6,411 and a low of Rs. 6,115 during the week, down by Rs. 14 to Rs. 6,196 per barrel, while CRUDE OIL-Mini February futures closed down by Rs. 18 to Rs. 6,195. NATURAL GAS February futures opened at Rs. 295 per MMBtu, rose by Rs. 20.70 to Rs. 316.50 and NATURAL GAS-Mini February futures rose by 20.30 to close at 316.20.
In agricultural commodities futures, trading worth Rs 17.61 crore was done on MCX. COTTON-CANDY March futures opened at Rs 53,700 per candy, touched an intra-day high of Rs 54,700 and a low of Rs 53,700 during the week, and ended at Rs 54,040 with a gain of Rs 340. MENTHA OIL February contract was quoted at Rs 918.20 per kg, up by Rs 2.40.
In terms of trading, 61,662.789 kg worth Rs 52,574.35 crore was traded in GOLD futures and 3,704.599 tonnes worth Rs 35,343.68 crore in SILVER futures. In the energy segment, 10,370,670 barrels worth Rs.6,491.70 crore were traded in CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-Mini futures and 799,192,250 MMBTU worth Rs.24,520.30 crore in NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-Mini futures. In non-ferrous metals, 63,517 tonnes worth Rs.1,635.41 crore were traded in ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-Mini futures, 20,907 tonnes worth Rs.376.58 crore in LEAD and LEAD-Mini futures, 82,073 tonnes worth Rs.7,072.23 crore in COPPER futures and 90,745 tonnes worth Rs.2,442.92 crore in ZINC and ZINC-Mini futures. In agricultural commodities, 2,928 candy worth Rs 3.95 crore were traded in COTTON-CANDY futures, while 147.6 tonnes worth Rs 13.66 crore were traded in MENTHA OIL futures.
Open interest on MCX at the end of the week was 21,581.839 kg in various GOLD futures and 1,119.561 tonnes in various SILVER futures, 22,030.000 tonnes in COPPER futures, 24,857 tonnes in ALUMINIUM and ALUMINIUM-Mini, 4,056 tonnes in LEAD and LEAD-Mini and 20,341 tonnes in ZINC and ZINC-Mini, 1,259,670 barrels in CRUDE OIL and CRUDE OIL-Mini futures and 35,547,500 mmBtu in NATURAL GAS and NATURAL GAS-Mini futures in the energy segment, 12,432 candy in COTTON-CANDY futures and 129.6 tonnes in MENTHA OIL futures in agricultural commodities.
In index futures, 152 lots worth Rs. 15.48 crore were traded in Bulldex futures on MCX. Open interest stood at 183 lots in Bulldex futures. Bulldex February futures opened at 20,275 points, rising 254 points to 20,418 points with a movement of 320 points.
In options, a notional turnover of Rs. 1152086.91 crore was recorded in options on commodity futures on MCX. GOLD and GOLD-Mini call and put options worth Rs.185673.48 crore, SILVER and SILVER-Mini call and put options worth Rs.51654.44 crore were traded. In the energy segment, CRUDE OIL call and put options worth Rs.781050.09 crore and NATURAL GAS call and put options worth Rs.119674.21 crore were traded.
