Mumbai, 15th September. The unique poetry competition organized by the Navi Mumbai unit of Lions Club in Vashi on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, became memorable for all the audience as a result of the emotional expressions made by more than 25 creators through their various poetic compositions.
This unique poetry competition, open to all age groups, was organized in the Samnway Auditorium of Sector 11 in Vashi on the evening of Saturday, 14th September, 2024. The coordinator of the competition, Lion Prince Grover, stated that since there was no age limit in this poetry competition, various teenagers, youth and elders, from a 10-year-old teenage participant to an 82-year-old poet, recited their self created poems. These young men and women and mature men and women presented various one better than the other poetic compositions in different genres and crossed all the boundaries of language, religion and caste and raised the flag of Hindi poetry.
Senior lyricist and executive member of Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy Gajanan Mahatpurkar, senior litterateur Dr. Jaya Anand and senior writer Dr. Kanaklata Tiwari performed their duties very well as judges of this poetry competition. Speaking as the chief guest on this occasion, District Governor of Lions Club, N.R. Parameshwaran said that Lions Club has been organising such Kavi Sammelans and other literary events continuously and will continue to do so in future too.
He informed that soon a humorous Kavi Sammelan will be organised by Lions Club for cancer patients, in which every effort will be made to bring smile on the faces of those patients. On this occasion, along with the participants, the jury members also guided the participants and received applause from the audience with their various poetic presentations. In this successful poetry event, the auditorium was packed with participants, guests and audience for about four hours.
The event started with lighting of lamp by all the judges. In the beginning, on behalf of Lions Club, event convener Prince Grover welcomed all the judges and chief guests by presenting them coconut and angavastram and in the end expressed gratitude to everyone. The successful and elegant stage anchoring of the event was done by Ms. Amandeep Gujral “Vimmi”. Participation certificates and mementos were presented to all the participants of the competition. On this occasion, various senior officials of the Lions Club including Lion Sanjeev Suryavanshi, Lion Anoop Tharwani and Lion Gunjan Saluja were also present.
