Mumbai : India’s leading commodity derivatives exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) has recorded turnover of Rs.59090.82 crores in various futures & option contracts for commodities listed at MCX on 25 February 2025 till 5:00 pm. In which commodity futures accounted for Rs. 12811.89 crores and options on commodity futures for Rs. 46277.29 crores (notional). Bullion Index MCXBULLDEX Mar-25 futures was reached at 20570.
It is worth mentioning here that on Monday, 24 February, a record turnover (notional) of Rs.51,149 crore was registered in GOLD-Mini options contracts on MCX. This shows the interest of traders towards options due to the increasing need for hedging in the face of huge fluctuations in gold prices.
Commodity Future Contracts:
Bullion: In precious metals, Turnover of Gold and Silver variants clocked Rs. 9574.76 crores. GOLD Apr-25 contract was up by 0.29% to Rs. 86430 per 10 gram, GOLDGUINEA Feb-25 contract was up by 0.19% to Rs. 70280 per 8 gram and GOLDPETAL Feb-25 contract was up by 0.29% to Rs. 8731 per gram. On other hand, GOLDM Mar-25 contract was up by 0.22% to Rs. 86215 per 10 gram.
SILVER Mar-25 contract was up by 0.33% to Rs. 95399 per kg, while SILVERM Feb-25 contract was up by 0.26% to Rs. 95559 per kg and SILVERMIC Feb-25 contract was up by 0.38% to Rs. 95528 per kg.
Gold futures clocked turnover of Rs. 3809.62 crores with volume of 4409 lots and OI of 18790 lots while Silver futures clocked turnover of Rs. 3055.95 crores with volume of 10581 lots and OI of 24645 lots.
Base Metal: Turnover of base metal products accounted for Rs. 1496.12 crores. COPPER Feb-25 contract was up by 0.17% to Rs. 862.8 per kg and ZINC Feb-25 contract was down by 0.15% to Rs. 267.15 per kg while ALUMINIUM Feb-25 contract was up by 0.02% to Rs. 262.15 per kg and LEAD Feb-25 contract was up by 0.11% to Rs. 177.35 per kg.
Copper futures clocked turnover of Rs. 810.66 crores, Aluminium futures Rs. 232.17 crores, Lead futures Rs. 37.08 crores, and Zinc futures clocked turnover of Rs. 289.92 crores.
Energy: Turnover of energy products contributed for Rs. 1764.85 crores. CRUDEOIL Mar-25 contract was up by 0.47% to Rs. 6179 per BBL while NATURALGAS Feb-25 contract was up by 1.04% to Rs. 350.6 per MMBTU.
Crude Oil futures clocked turnover of Rs. 240.87 crores and Natural Gas futures Rs. 1217.04 crores.
AGRI: MENTHAOIL Feb-25 contract was up by 0.15% to Rs. 918 per kg .
Options on Commodity Future Contracts:
Commodity Options accounted for Rs. 46277.29 crores turnover (notional), having premium turnover of Rs. 649.39 crores.
Crude Oil Options: Most traded contracts among Crude Oil Options were Call Option Mar-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6200 was up by 7.82% to Rs. 154.50 with volume of 35486 lots & OI of 13632 lots, while Crude Oil Put Option Mar-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.6200 was down by 9.59% to Rs. 175.3 with volume of 29576 lots & OI of 8340 lots.
Natural Gas Options: Most traded contracts among Natural Gas Options were Call Option Mar-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.350 was up by 9.53% to Rs. 23.55 with volume of 12917 lots & OI of 3316 lots, while Natural Gas Put Option Mar-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.340 was down by 9.69% to Rs. 17.7 with volume of 6931 lots & OI of 2973 lots.
Gold Options: Most traded contracts among Gold Options were Call Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.87000 was up by 3.24% to Rs. 223.00 with volume of 4037 lots & OI of 1090 lots, while Gold Put Option Feb-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.86000 was down by 32.95% to Rs. 292 with volume of 4854 lots & OI of 1369 lots.
Silver Options: Most traded contracts among Silver Options were Call Option Apr-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.100000 was up by 2.18% to Rs. 2321.50 with volume of 236 lots & OI of 459 lots, while Silver Put Option Apr-25 contract at Strike price of Rs.95000 was down by 6.2% to Rs. 2324 with volume of 220 lots & OI of 272 lots.
